Featuring more than 200 people, this festive performance of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus is very special. The Orchestra recorded in St Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne with conductor Benjamin Northey.

This year the MSO would have celebrated 80 years of performing Handel’s Messiah in a row, and while 2020 has been challenging, we couldn’t let that record slip.

First performed in 1742, the work has continually been performed in Western music, gaining popularity and frequency.

Initially performed for Easter, this work is also now known for its Christmas performances due to the first part representing the birth of Christ.
