Music

I am a trumpeter from South Australia, now residing in Melbourne. My earliest lessons were individual sessions at Hahndorf Primary School with Sarah Butler and Ben Daly, before I undertook dual training at the Specialist Music Program at Brighton Secondary School, under Jeffery Kong, and Heathfield High School, alongside extra studies at the State Music Camp (SA), performing in their Concert Bands and Orchestra. At Heathfield I was taught by Peter Miller and Kristin Stefanoff, sang under choir conductor Naomi Eyers, and studied trumpet with David Clark and Hal Hall.

I have been playing for more than fifteen years, reaching AMEB Grade 4, and have performed with a number of ensembles over that time. With the Hahndorf Town Band I was guided by Ben Daly, Veronica Bolton, Kevin Cameron, Alwin (Al) Kidney, Phil Crockart, Hal Hall and Philip Paine, and with the Campbelltown City Band by Al Kidney, Brent Perry and Bruce (Dizzy) Raymond. I also played with the Burnside Concert Band and Payneham City Concert Band, and performed in the 90th-anniversary Adelaide Christmas Pageant concert and marching band, an occasion shaped by James Morrison's influence.

Beyond concert bands, I have run my own bands, been a member of the Adelaide soul and Motown band Georgie and the Tonics, and performed in the orchestra for the Blackwood Players' production of Little Shop of Horrors. I've also taken part in workshops including the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra's Big Rehearsal and the ABODA Summer Conducting School.

These days I rehearse and perform with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir under Andrew Wailes and the Inner West Symphony Orchestra under Andrew Leach. In 2022 I also sang with Night Chorus, led by Alex Morris and Elisha Maiyah.
